Having worked for over twenty-five years in the travel and travel technology sectors Simon has become widely known within the travel industry. He began his career at Holiday Express, a family run travel business which grew to a turnover in excess of £30 million. Holiday Express was sold to First Choice Plc in 2001.
As a Co-Founder of Comtec Simon has grown the business from a small three-man operation to a company employing around 200 skilled IT professionals with a 40+% UK market share and many international clients. Simon led the buyout to “Private Equity “in May 2008 and left the company in 2010.
Over the past 4 years Simon has invested in multiple start-ups and turnarounds in the travel and technology sectors. One of these start-ups is a company called Eysys of which Simon is the Chairman and Co-Founder. Eysys is a core technology business where their product delivers “Predictive Personalisation” using Machine Learning and “Deep Learning Neural Network”. Their product is on the cutting edge of the next revolution in online selling. Eysys is focused on eliminating business friction from operational ecommerce through the Holistic platform which will change the decisions being made for online selling.
Simon has also invested in and is the chair for multiple businesses including Inspiresport and Coreplace Capital.
Recently in October 2014 Simon bought back Comtec, the company that he sold in 2008 which is very exciting news for the travel industry as Comtec is recognised as one of the UK’s leading providers of software solutions to the travel industry.
In 2015 Simon and nineteen of Wales’ top business people have joined forces to create Inspire Growth Wales, an investment consortium which aims to give financial and mentoring help to exciting and ambitious start-ups and established businesses.
