Dr Melanie Goward – Technology Seed Fund Manager, Finance Wales

With over 15 years’ investment experience and a specialist in the life science sector Melanie works in our technology ventures team as Technology Seed Fund Manager.

She joined Finance Wales in 2010 and has built up extensive investment and fund management experience as well as a keen understanding of the early-stage investment process.

Melanie is responsible for delivery of equity investments from the Wales Technology Seed Fund which provides funding up to £250,000 to help businesses to commercialise and bring to market innovative products and services in a range of sectors.

She has a long-standing network of co-investors and other industry contacts, a was a former Investment Director at Nesta. Her recent investments include Diurnal, where she played an integral role in their helping them achieve significant growth and an AIM listing, as well as Kitlog, Nemesis Bioscience, Momentum Bioscience, Clinithink, Vizolution and ADC Biotechnology.

She started her career in technology sector finance at Lloyds TSB Corporate providing debt finance to high-growth companies.
Melanie has a PhD in Genetics from Cambridge University, where she completed research forming part of the Human Genome Project. She also has a BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences.
